FAMILY DEVOTIONAL / NOVENA
A novena (from Latin novem, meaning “nine”) is an ancient tradition of devotional praying in Christianity, consisting of private or public prayers repeated for nine successive days. In Colombia, the church is accustomed to holding a novena from December 16 to 24 to celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus.
Families traditionally gather to read a passage or scripture, recite a written prayer and sing a Christmas carol. At your evening meal, or your morning breakfast, or simply before you tuck your children into bed, read the scripture passage, ask and answer the questions, and pray together during this Advent.
